My friend takes this one step further and refers completely accurately to his girlfriend Danielle as "My partner, Dan"

Also i hate to say it but for some people, boyfriend/girlfriend feels a bit juvenile, say, if youre over 30, or perhaps youve been with someone for a very long time and are committed life partners but not married for whatever reason. Maybe husband/wife feels a little watered down to you and you want to establish the equal nature of your relationship.

Partner is a wonderful word and it should be normalized.

We actively asked people to use "partner" because then using partner doesn't out someone as queer, you absolute fucking cabbages.

It isn't appropriation when people ask you to fucking do it.

Fun fact! Decibel is a logarithmic scale. This means an increase of 10 dB is a doubling in strength.

The big chunky ones that act more similar to wooden pencils are amazing actually.

Instead of fucking up your hand with a pencil that grows smaller as you sharpen it, you can keep drawing with the same one forever. Also hotswapping between lead hardnesses instead of having a bazillion pencils scattered around? Delightful

That being said the ones I have I got on accident in a large pencil kit and the first thing I thought was “what the fuck is this abomination”

I just find it interesting how Christ never really said anything about being prideful in one's sexuality. Not to mention, he never brought up what we now call "homosexuality" at all. I mean he certainly spoke about human sexuality, but his primary concerns were with adultery and how to prevent it. Despite his objection to the practice, he still loved and protected an adulterer from violence and proclaimed that no one judge her (John 8).

But he did mention the sin of being prideful in one's own faith. Multiple times. He said that humble sinners would be rewarded before those who self-righteously believe they are better than everybody because they are performing their faith "correctly" (Luke 18:13). He also openly opposed flaunting religious practice in public, and explained our most sincere form of religious expression is in private (Matt 6:5).

The reason why pride is horrible for our spirituality is because pride postures the self above all else. It causes us judge those who are supposedly "below" us. It doesn't allow us to sacrificially love each other like Christ calls us to do. I personally do have issues with being prideful. I see myself as more religiously righteous than a lot of people, and I am constantly trying to humble my faith. I am consistently wrestling my faith away from my fragile ego. In this context, I do consider my pride as sin.

This simply isn't the case with LGBT Pride. This definition of "pride" doesn't posture itself above others, rather it cries out "we are equally human and worthy as straight-cis people." It isn't a idealization of selfhood, it is a declaration of collective liberation from systems that are violent against us. It is a totally different definition from the pride I had mentioned before.
